She thinks everyone will assume it’s a joke, but then she receives a letter begging her to travel to the remote Nowhere House to help three young witches control their magic. When she arrives, she finds that her new housemates aren’t just the young girls. There’s also a handsome, but protective, librarian named Jaime, an absent archaeologist, a retired actor, and two long-suffering caretakers.

Mika didn’t travel to the house to find a relationship or a new family, but could she have stumbled into both?

What the Hex book cover

Penny has always wanted nothing more than to work for a witch. She joined the Society of Familiars as soon as she was old enough, but no one is hiring. When she’s offered and under the table opportunity to apprentice for a forbidden warlock, she agrees.

Willem is banned from having a familiar due to his past transgressions, and the subsequent limits on his spell-casting.

Willem is as surly as Penny is enthusiastic, which does not make an ideal warlock/familiar combination, but they must work together to catch a common enemy. If the ploy requires a little kissing on the side, who’s to question the rules of magic?

The Book Girls Say…

This is the second book in the Hex series, which has slightly higher ratings than the first book, Go Hex Yourself. Some characters from the first book make an appearance in the What the Hex, so if you know you’ll want to read both novels, we recommend starting with Go Hex Yourself.

Smoke Show book cover

In an effort to save her job and engage her students, Petra sets out up the coast of New England to research the witch trials and witchcraft firsthand.

In a quaint small town in Maine, her academic search uncovers more than she bargained for, and she unexpectedly lands at the center of a murder investigation.

The Book Girls Say…

This 2024 release is rumored to be the final installment in the Witches of Thistle Grove series. While the books can be read as standalones, those who enjoy the world-building aspects of series books may want to begin with Payback’s a Witch.

Heads up that this book includes undertones of suicidal thoughts. We know this topic can be difficult for some people to read, so proceed cautiously.

Bax is a guardian angel with a lot of black marks on his record. In order to keep his wings, he’s been given one final assignment. While rule-following Olive would typically be a low-risk assignment, she’s suddenly embracing her inner daredevil.

Will Bax be able to protect Olive without breaking the only Guardian Angel Code of Code—don’t fall in love with your Assignment?

The Book Girls Say…

There are three books in the Witches of Thistle Grove series, including Not the Witch You Wed. Each book follows one of the Maxwell triplets.
