We don’t take it lightly when we ask you to consider financially supporting the work we do here at The Book Girls Guide. We want to ensure we are transparent about the “why” behind this ask, and we thank you in advance for your support, whether it be signing up for a membership or simply helping to spread the word about our bookish resources to your reader friends.
How It Started
The Book Girls’ Guide started as a fun side project. We strongly believe in the importance of reading and wanted to create a peaceful and positive corner of the internet where we could make the world a kinder place, one book at a time.
As we began hearing from readers that different books we recommended really connected with them, or showed them a new perspective, we were inspired to continue improving everything we offered.
How It’s Going
We offer all of our online book lists and reading challenges at no cost because we never want finances to be a barrier to hearing about great books! Everything on our website is free, and will continue to be.
The reality, however, is that maintaining our website and email platform requires significant financial resources, in addition to the full-time hours we dedicate each week. The Book Girls, Angela & Melissa, do all the things around here, from book research to tech support.
How You Can Help
A few years ago, some of our very kind readers asked if there was any way to support the Book Girls’ Guide financially to help with the time and cost of curating the book lists, reading challenges, and moderating the Read with the Book Girls Facebook group.
We never intended to have a member-support platform, but a reader suggested we start a Buy Me a Coffee page. So we set it up and offer ongoing perks to those who join at one of our two membership levels.
We’ve been amazed to see it slowly grow into something that has made a huge difference for us, while also allowing us to provide even more in-demand bookish content.
What Sets the Two Membership Levels Apart?
BFF Membership Level
This was our first membership level, designed specifically for readers who had been asking for printable versions of our reading challenge book lists and author guides. Members are also entered into a monthly book giveaway & more!
Inner Circle Membership Level
We launched a second membership tier to provide additional member perks that were frequently requested in our reader survey. Among them were single-page printables of ALL of our new and updated book lists, plus live book chats with Angela & Melissa.
This level also includes other exclusive perks, like an additional reading challenge just for Inner Circle members and a bonus entry into the monthly giveaway.
